CUNY Dance Initiative Resident Artist 2018-2019!

Jenny Rocha/Rocha Dance Theater is proud to announce a CUNY Dance Initiative residency at John Jay College. The company will be participating in a residency leading up to the premiere of a new work entitled Half-Heard at their Gerald Lynch Theater as well as site specific locations throughout their campus in February of 2019. Battledress: The Azores Premiere & Workshop Series Rocha Dance Theater will be participating in their first international tour to Azores, Portugal this September, an opportunity I’m particularly excited about, as my family is from Sao Miguel, Azores. With the support of a grant from the US Embassy in Lisbon, I will lead a 5 day workshop for students ages 13-18, teaching a modern technique class and setting a section of Battledress. At the end of the week, my company will perform a trio version of Battledress at a local theater called Teatro Ribeiragrandense. Free to the public, the students will have an opportunity to perform the culminating piece that was created during the workshop as part of our show. Selected Choreographer for Women in Dance Leadership Conference!


Jenny Rocha is a selected choreographer for The Women in Dance Leadership Conference, Female Leadership in the 21st Century, which will take place at Danspace Project January 18th-21st! Jenny was one of 13 choreographers selected out of 700 submissions and artists in 38 countries! An excerpt of Rocha’s work Battledress will be performed on January 19th. Save the Date!!!

The Dinner Party: A Whodunnit Cabaret is a parody based on the cult classic, CLUE! This performance experience blends dance, circus, theater and audience interaction to create mystery theater like you’ve never seen before! It is a full length performance and requires a rehearsal period to set and adapt the work to a specific venue.
